Author Spotlight- CJ Baty

Please help me welcome CJ Baty to the author spotlight stage! CJ is from Ohio.

Describe your books/your writing for the readers.

My characters have flaws with a need to find a love that will help them become who they were meant to be. Most usually there is a mystery involved (murder, blackmail, etc.). The Pinkerton Man Series deals with early 1900 American history. Contemporary stories are more focused on the couple(s) involved.

What is something that makes you unique (personally or within your writing)?

You will find that my books contain a lot of research about the setting or time period which relates to the story itself. It’s important to me that the reader can visualize the story as well as read the words.

Tell us about your writing process. Where do your ideas come from? Do you plan/plot or totally wing it?

In the beginning, I was totally a winger. But after, writing in a series, I find I need to plan/plot more. I have started keeping a separate file with names, descriptions, settings, quirks, etc. Some authors call them a Character Bible. It helps me stay sane when continuing a story series.

What was an early experience where you learned that language had power?

Before I retired to write full time, I worked in finance at a credit union. Day to day operations in the loan department brought home the need for clear and concise communication and the power language can have.
