Author Spotlight – Sean Azinsalt/Shane K. Morton

Please help me welcome Sean Azinsalt/ Shane K Morton to the LGBTQIA Author Spotlight. He comes to us from Los Angeles.

Describe your books/your writing for the readers.

Sean dark and horrific with hot men you love to hate and hate to love! I like to blend horror and sci-fi with romance. Shane sweet and fun with no matter if it’s romance or Romantic mystery.

What is something that makes you unique (personally or within your writing)?

I write a lot of drag queens because that’s the culture I come from. They are super honest, and I love bringing them to life!

Tell us about your writing process. Where do your ideas come from? Do you plan/plot or totally wing it?

I’m a plantser! I plot with all the best intentions and then… crap happens and I roll with it. My Drag Queen Detective series is super plotted out though.

What was an early experience where you learned that language had power?

Jr. High when I finally broke and unleashed words at a bully who immediately backed down and never bothered me again. Words have power and truth and can be a dangerous tool when used correctly! Words can cut!

What is your favorite childhood book?

The Secret Seven mystery series by Enid Blyton. I checked that series out from the library repeatedly! My husband just bought the entire collection for me this Christmas.

What is one of the best feelings in the world?

Being home with my husband of 23 years and our two dogs cuddled on the couch. Pure love and peace.

If animals could talk, which would be the rudest?

I think the snow leopard would be the biggest butthead. They’re just that pretty and… well, a cat.

What’s a sound you absolutely love?

A musical chord as it resolves. Pure poetry. Also my dogs sweet breath in my ear.

Favorite snack while writing?

None. I never eat while I write.

Favorite drink when writing?

A glass of wine or a beer.

Favorite scent?

Tom Ford’s tobacco vanile which is the cologne my husband wears.

If someone is new to your writing, which book would you suggest they start with?

Sean- Dark Eros. Shane- Men Murder and Makeup.
